The Eclectic Décor: Absorbing, Interesting.
Brush's design defies gravity for its electric impact as you enter the restaurant. Maximum effect, minimum materials and cost. Glitter: a waste of time. Recycling: great! From the corrugated iron roof, through the foaming insulation to recycled wood from the Tsunami. "Soft" cement integrated into the design. Soft blue painted walls invoke Phuket beach driftwood. John Underwood's artistic philosophy of recycling, keeping it simple, but with maximum effect, permeates the restaurant. Tables are a simple, clean design of metal and plywood. Quality canvass cushions with Jim Thompson silk wraps. John Underwood sculptures dot the restaurant. A 30-40 year old electric bicycle from Japan. Old lamps. Mannequins. Uplift lighting. Simple, local, imaginative, non-elitist. Yet absorbing and interesting.

Our Unique Spanish/Thai Menu
Two of the world’s most loved cuisines combine at Brush to create a culinary experience unique to Phuket. Tapas, the popular Spanish small plate dish traditionally served with wine and beer, features strongly. Paella, equally famous, is served steaming hot in a traditional Paella pan at your table. Suitable for groups of four to six. A range of traditional Thai small dishes complement the Spanish fare. The choice is terrific. Order several dishes and dine Thai style or just sit at the high bar and have Tapas with a wine or beer from our wide selection. It’s different, it’s delicious and it’s only at Brush.

John Underwood's Philosophy.
"Why not do an exhibition of those crazy mud flaps on Thai trucks with pictures of movies stars, such as Silvester Stallone? Or why not tattoos? They are now universally accepted all over the world by everyone. Why not an exhibition of the best tattoos on Phuket?" John Underwood's creative brain knows no bounds. Why not truck mud flaps, or tattoos? Everything has artistic merit. Find them at Brush Restaurant & Beach Club.

John Underwood: Phuket's Living Artistic Genius.
"Genius is something or someone embodying exceptional intellectual ability, creativity, or originality, typically to a degree that is associated with the achievement of unprecedented insight." John Underwood is too self-effacing and humble to admit to the above definition. But to many people he fits the bill perfectly. Big, hearty, full of bonhomie and good cheer, John's character doesn't fit the mould of an eccentric Dali or brooding Picasso, but, his art tells a different story. For over a decade Underwood Art Factory has produced works of exquisite originality and design for numerous famous clients that endure, indeed, seem to march with the ever changing mores of time. Indigo Pearl's dramatic décor is just one famous example. Phuket, India, Norway, Australia. John's art covers the world. "Australian of the Year," designer of Australian Expos in Korea, Spain and Brisbane. Since the late 1990s John Underwood has plied his celebrated art on Phuket. The island is a better place for it. Brush epitomises the Underwood philosophy of combining artistic endeavour into the community.
